Love Beyond Feelings

In today’s world, love is often portrayed as an overwhelming, magical force – something that strikes instantly. This narrative, often seen in movies, suggests that love is all about passion and emotional intensity. But what if true love isn’t just about feelings? What if it’s about consistent actions that nurture and care for connection, even when the emotions aren’t immediately obvious?

Love is a verbs – it is about the choices we make every day. To cultivate deep, lasting love, we need to look beyond the superficial idea. Love is not just a magical force. We should embrace it as an ongoing process of action.

The Misleading Picture Of Love

We have all watched movies where two characters meet, and after just a few scenes, they´re madly in love. These portrayals set unrealistic expectations for how love should unfold. Love is not a fairy tale – it is a journey. Instead of magical moments, true love grows through mutual respect, care, and consistency. It´s about choosing to love every day, even in tough times. Feelings of love are nurtured by consistent actions.

Deep love does not just happen on its own – it is a conscious decision. It is choosing love, listen, appreciate, and nurture the other person, even when you´re not feeling emotionally charged. Love does not wait for the perfect moment – it´s about choosing to show up, even when it´s hard. As the quote beautifully expresses:

How do you love someone if the feeling isn´t there? Love. – Listen. Appreciate. Care. Nurture. The feeling of love will just be the fruit of what you plant.

This is, where love shows its true strength: in the actions we take. Deep, true love is built through day-to-day efforts, not fleeting emotions.

Loving When You Are Broken

Movies often portray love as a perfect remedy for all problems. Real love is about showing up for each other. It also includes showing up for yourself, even when you’re hurt. Love grows the most in the moments we are vulnerable and imperfect. Healing happens when we choose to love, despite flaws, wounds, or past hurts.

It is not about waiting for perfect feelings to align. It is about showing up and loving with action. This is especially true when it is tough. When we actively love, we invite healing and growth for both – ourselves and others.

Love is What You Do, Not Just How You Feel

Whenever you think of love and the fairy tales you have in mind, consider this: Love is a verb. Love starts with you. It is the choices we make to care for ourselves, someone else, nurture a relationship, and show up every day. The feeling of love will come, and we need to invest in it. It´s time to let go of unrealistic expectations from movies. True love is something we build through actions.

Love is not just a feeling—it is a daily practice, an investment in ourselves and in others. It’s about showing up, making the conscious choice to nurture, and putting in the work to build lasting, authentic connections. The fairy tales may tell us that love is magical and effortless. However, in reality, it’s the small, consistent actions that make it thrive.
