Balancing daily routines and creative goals isn’t about finding more time; it’s about making the most of the time you have.

Balancing Daily Routines and Creative Goals: How to Find Time for What Matters
Daily life often leads us into routines designed to help us accomplish task and maintain a well-functioning lifestyle. We´re all striving to make the most out of each day, as these days collectively shape our lives. When I first started my new routine – waking up, getting dressed, and heading out to work each day till coming home again late – I felt exhausted during the first few weeks, primarily because of the demands of my new job and adjusting to this unfamiliar work schedule. This new routine was unfamiliar, and I had to find the right balance between my work responsibilities, which include completing various tasks and interacting with a whole bunch of inspiring colleagues, and creating time for my personal goals and creative ideas.
In the beginning, it was a struggle. I have so so many ideas constantly running through my mind that I sometimes find it hard to focus on one at a time. There´s so much I want to do – I even wish I could live more than one life to explore all my passions. However, I am deeply grateful that I now have the desire to live more fully, to experience life in a more intense way. It´s a privilege, especially considering the contrasting realities many face in the world. We must acknowledge this privilige as we work to balance our personal and professional lives.
Focusing on What Truly Matters
Taking time for reflection allowed me to think about what truly matter to me and what I hope to achieve in the coming months. Writing down my thoughts, then clustering and organizing them, felt like I was organizing my brain. As I began this process, I came accross a podcast I highly recommend: The Mindset Mentor. In the episode, the host discussed the consept of our “energy account”. he explained that simply organizing your day by tasks won´t be effective unless you also consider your energy levels throughout the day.
We are all so different, and many of us aren´t aware of how our energy fluctuates over a 24 – hour period. We´re taught to focus on getting things done, to be productive – or even worse, to be busy. But it´s not only about how many hours you put into a project; it´s about how effective you are with the tasks you complete. To improve productivity, both efficiency and effectiveness are crucial. Efficiency allows you to complete tasks quickly, while effectiveness ensures you´re focusing on the rigth tasks that align with your goals, helping you achieve more in less time.
A helpful metaphore could be that efficiency is like how fast you can climb a ladder, while effectiveness is about whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall. It´s crucial to remember this: You can be the efficient person in the world, but if your ladder is on the wrong wall, you climb as the fastes up the ladder and reach the wrong destination.
Keep this in mind as you work toward goals.
Turning Dreams into Reality
We all know the before mentioned fact instinctively, but we´re often trained to simply function. Learning how to function is important, but it´s equally crucial to understand how to harness your energy to create something meaningful. By matering these skills, we can become more free and self-aware, empowering ourselves to pursue our dreams and achieve our goals.
Whether you dream of a life in the mountains, on the beach, in the forest, or even on the moon, it´s your responsibility to let your dream become reality. Only you can bring it into life, because only you know what that vision looks like in your mind.
Ride Your Energy Waves for Health and Success
A helpful way to ensure you have enough energy to pursue your dreams while managing the demands of everyday life is to understand your energy levels throughout the day.
Pay attention to how you feel when you wake up, get dressed, commute to work or school, and go about your daily tasks. How do you feel at 10 a.m.? What signals does your body send at 1 p.m. after lunch? How does your energy change during the 3 p.m. afternoon slump?
Consider keeping a diary and tracking your energy levels hourly in a simple table. Don´t be too hard on yourself if it´s difficult to stick to tracking consistently – this was challenging for me as well. The key is to become attuned to your unique energy cycles, which can fluctuate both throughout the day and from one day to another. Once you understand them, you can create personalized action steps to design a life that nourishes your health, soul, and dreams – making your daily life easier, more fulfilling, and alignes with your goals.
Energy is the foundation of everything we do, and maintaining optimal energy levels is crucial to living up to our full potential. While we can learn new skills, acquire knowledge, and develop strategies, it´s equally impotant to focus on taking care of ourselves. By doing so, we stay aligned with our true potential and are better equipped to face life´s challenges. We can maintain our energy by using various resources, such as proper nutrition, exercise, hydration, social life, and rest. Aligning your body, mind, and soul through self-care ensures that your energy remins balanced, helping you stay focused, motivated, and capable of living your best life.
