You can start anew at any given moment. Life is just the passage of time and it’s up to you to pass it as you please. – Charlotte Eriksson

Most of the time in my life, whenever I started a new chapter, I felt scared. Right before stepping into something new, my mind would go into overdrive with fear. Thoughts like, “What if I get sick again because this isn’t right for me?” or “This doesn’t feel right at all. Why am I doing this to myself? You’re making a mistake!” would flood my mind. It got so intense that I sometimes began to believe them, causing even more stress about making a mistake, wasting time, or losing control of my life. I would worry I was heading straight toward a dead end.
It’s funny how easily we can slip into “drama mode” – a pattern many of us are familiar with. We let our minds take control, and before we know it, we’re spiraling into panic. But the truth is, new beginnings often come with uncertainty, and that’s okay. The fear and self-doubt don’t have to define the journey.
I´ve lived through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened. – Mark Twain
A new beginning often requires a change in direction. Whether it’s applying for a new flat, moving to a different city, switching jobs, or even relocating to another country or continent, making a decision to shift our environment is key. A fresh start can take many forms, but for me, it’s always about the feeling of moving somewhere new.
Living in a new place—whether it’s a different city or country—creates this unique sense of starting over. In these moments, no one knows me, and I can be whoever I want to be. There’s a certain freedom that comes from shedding the weight of old labels and expectations. I’m not pre-known, and in that sense, I feel completely free. It’s one of the most liberating experiences.
Moving to a new city to start a completely new job, surrounded by unfamiliar people and places, is no doubt a challenge. But it’s also essential for personal growth. Relocating offers a unique opportunity to reflect on yourself and what you truly want in life.
When you move somewhere new, you’re forced to get clear on your desires. You’ll find yourself asking questions like: Where would I like to live for a while? What do I want to do there? and How can I make sure I take care of my mental and physical health during this transition? The process of starting fresh pushes you to dig deeper into your own world and helps you discover what you like—and what you don’t.
A new beginning isn’t just about changing your location; it’s about understanding yourself better and setting the foundation for the next chapter of your life.
Once you make a decision, the journey doesn’t end there. You have to keep playing the game of life and stay open to new opportunities that align with your preferences. This can take time, and especially when you feel stuck, it’s hard to stay in the process and trust in yourself, life, or whatever might help you move forward.
When that moment comes where you’ve found something, made a plan, and are ready to make it happen, the feeling of potential loss may appear—and it’s not easy to ignore. But here’s something I want to emphasize: don’t ignore your feelings. Always acknowledge them, no matter how uncomfortable they may seem. But in the end loss is an illusion because change is constant, and we have the power to choose whether we actively design our life or let external forces shape it for us.
Starting a new chapter comes with its own set of challenges and questions. I won’t lie to you about that. But think of it like traveling—you can listen to stories and look at photos of your friends’ adventures, or you can create your own stories that light up your world.
Starting over is so important. Many people stay in their comfort zones—whether it’s in familiar cities, villages, jobs, relationships, or hobbies—while life is waiting outside, calling us to grow and become more. Even though a new beginning often comes with challenges and hard work, it’s totally worth it. It helps you create the life you truly want, the life you’re truly here for. Because life happens at every moment. It is every breath you take, and every experience you make. Use it.
Humans are in constant change. We’re designed to live with it. Maybe thats why we are so adaptable and that’s a beautiful thing because it allows us to experience life in all its facets.
Be water my friend. Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. You put water into a cup; it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle; it becomes the bottle. – Bruce Lee
The world can seem scary at times. It may even feel like we’re all against each other. But is that really true? I don’t believe it is. We’re all free to decide what we want to believe in, because our thoughts shape our behavior—and in turn, our reality. A new beginning is like a blank sheet of paper. Haven’t you ever wanted to overcome old stories, face new challenges, and experience a beauty of life you’ve never seen before? Who knows, maybe this is your chance to become everything you’ve always dreamed of being.
Just start. Listen to yourself and take small steps. And if no one else understands you, remember: you can. And I’m here to remind you of that. Trust yourself—you’ve got this.
